Born and raised in Barbados. Yes, the gem of the Caribbean Sea!
Highlights (or the main highlight) from my childhood? Many Saturday afternoons spent at the Garrison Savannah racetrack watching the "greats" such as Venice Richards, Emily Ramsammy & Patrick Husbands ride.
Horses at the forefront of my memory? Midnight Tornado, Sandford Prince, Alto Jane, Littleton and a classy little lady named Distinctive Lady.
These days I'm residing and writing in Toronto.
This blog is dedicated to the horsemen in the racing industry. Really and truly, it's a small endeavour to highlight the wonderful work and care that people put into their horses.
The Next Chapter houses stories on individuals who've gone above and beyond to ensure their four-legged friends find a soft spot to land after they've finished racing.
Horse racing is a tough sport and you will often hear people say that it's not for the faint of heart. You need a thick skin to survive, so to speak.
YET, the people with the biggest hearts usually find themselves immersed within it and end up falling hard for a horse (or horses) at the track. Soon enough some of those horses find their dressage or jumping legs, while others become the resident pasture pet. All in all, each horse is enjoying a new lease on life.
There are many people out there who cover second chance stories and that makes my heart happy. The more, the merrier.
This blog highlights the people that I've crossed paths with over the last several years working in the industry.
Please take the time to read their stories. Thank you. BIG LOVE, Hays
